Hi! My name is Durga, I am 25 years old and I have just started my professional career as a primary English teacher in Catalonia (Spain).

Inside this blog, you will find either experiences I have had during my learning years in university as a teacher trainee or ESL materials that I have created and will be creating for my students.

Feel free to add any comment or give some feedback or ask any queries in the Contact section! :)

ABOUT ME

I graduated from Primary Education Degree (English especialisation) at the UAB (Autonomous University of Barcelona).

In summer 2019 I decided to try out the Oposiciones para Maestros, a selection process to obtain a permanent post as an English teacher... and guess what ? It was my first time trying but...I managed to get to the final phase of the contest and thanks to that, now I can make my dream come true: to become an inspiring English teacher for my kids!

Even though the Covid-19 situation will change teacher's methodology and approach in language teaching (actually, everything), I am very excited to learn from myself and from my kids in this lovely profession. This unexpected situation can help teachers to improve our problem solving skills and also to experiment new tecniques and resources in our classrooms.

What does education mean for me?

For me, education is the root that sustains and feeds a tree’s life;  it is the base for every single aspect that is present in our society. Without education we cannot understand fully what is happening in our contexts, we cannot use our thoughts wisely to express and communicative with others and neither we can understand others.

Therefore, education allows us to change problems, solve situations and make us more tolerant, responsible and open-minded. Just as Nelson Mandela said:

This is why a good quality of education based on values, attitudes and  problem-solving competences can prepare our students to be critical and get ready for their future.

What do I want to achieve as a Primary education English teacher?

1. Make an impact on children's learning process and methodology in the English classroom.

2. Get my students to enjoy learning English in a fun but effective way.

3. Help my students understand and see the importance of English for their future lives.

4. Always improve as a teacher and as a person as well as to be open to new teaching trends and approaches. In other words, to become a role model for my students.

5. Collaborate in a social project in Nepal to teach orphan children and offer them the same chances of growing and learning as any other kid.

I really hope I can achieve all these goals before I

retire from this lovely occupation!
