"Let's become experts in coaching!"

INTRODUCING THIS T.U

   

    Target age: 6th grade                 Subject area: Project             Teacher: Durga

 

 

This Teaching Unit has arisen from a Project that students from 6th grade where working on called “How important is health in our lives?”. Therefore, it's a teaching unit thought to be applied in the context of the particular school where I am staying.

​

When applying this teaching unit, students will be able to become experts in coaching and throughout the sessions they will learn the names of the different muscles and body parts moves as well as some English expressions on how to deliver instructions and motivate when they will be performing the final outcome of the sequence: a coaching lesson (dance, fitness, boxing techniques, relaxing class) to their peers.

​

It is also worth mentioning that this teaching unit follows the idea of the double focus teaching approach called CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) in which students learn a subject content (science) through another vehicular language that differs from their L1.

 

Therefore, the idea is that students will learn a new language in a more natural way since they will be acquiring linguistic skills by making a real use of and to communicate with others, which is how language learning should be in order to get the most enringing experience when both learning and teaching a foreign language.
